While studying at the California Institute of the Arts in 1986, animator Jim Reardon created Bring Me the Head of Charlie Brown, an unauthorized black-and-white parody presented as a trailer for a grotesquely violent Peanuts television special. Its premise was that the Great Pumpkin had placed a bounty on Charlie Brown, leading Lucy, Schroeder, Snoopy, the Kite-Eating Tree, and Linus to make repeated attempts on his life. After being pushed too far, Charlie Brown transformed himself with a Travis Bickle-style Mohawk, an Arnold Schwarzenegger-like accent, and an arsenal of weapons before launching a gunfight against the other characters and a procession of pop-culture figures, including Popeye, Godzilla, Rocky Balboa, Mickey Mouse, Hitler, and Richard Simmons.
