Production on The Heretic became a catalog of costly disruptions. Principal photography started at Burbank Studios on May 24, 1976, but director John Boorman contracted San Joaquin Valley fever, a respiratory fungal infection that halted filming for more than a month. Wishman’s only feature horror film became her most notoriously troubled production. A Night to Dismember was begun in the late 1970s, after the success of Halloween had ignited the slasher boom, and starred pornographic actress Samantha Fox. The surviving print is now regarded as the only known copy and as an important early document of an Alpine ascent, while the Mont Blanc material appears to have vanished entirely.
